Summary
Chapter 14 picks back up as Addison is leaving home with his money, convinced that he needs to get rid of it. An unfamiliar number flashes on his pager, but he does not answer. It had been four days since Addison was in the Broadus house. He has $12,000 and is convinced that something good will happen if he puts up all his flyers and throws the money into the Potomac River.
Addison drives a route that will take him by Stubb's, where Kevin was murdered. Addison sees the remains of all the flowers and gifts people had left at the site. He realizes the business is no longer there, then Addison sees a construction crew at work on the road, “moving with infinite slowness and carelessness” (178).
