Rose and Luke's Apartment
Rose and Luke's apartment is one of the novel's primary settings. Though the specific city is never identified, the couple's home is located in an urban environment. The apartment is the backdrop for Rose and Luke's fight over Rose's prenatal vitamins. Noticing that her husband has come around to her side of the bed, something he never does, Rose immediately understands he is upset. In the first version of the fight, the couple fails to resolve their difference. Rose sees the argument as a turning point, and returns to this scene throughout the novel.
