Summary
Chapter 10 begins with Shao-yu and the Dragon Princess visiting the palace of the Dragon King for a feast. Shao-yu saw Heng-shan mountain from the palace and decided to climb it. At the top he thought that he would like to detach from the world and live quietly in nature. Then he saw a temple where an old monk taught the sutras. The monk told Shao-yu that it was not the time to stay, and as he made an offering to the Buddha, he startled awake in his camp. He asked his officers if they also had a strange dream and they all did. When he walked to the lake, it was carnage, and all his soldiers drank the water and shouted with such ferocity the Tibetans surrendered.
