Summary
Patrice tries to think of new ways to find Vera and cheer up Zhaanat. At work, she spends her lunches with Betty Pye, who has brought her recently removed tonsils in a jar. Mr. Vold announces there will no longer be an afternoon coffee break, which takes a physical toll on the workers. Valentine and Doris whisper together about kissing Barnes, and Patrice pretends he told her about it. If Patrice is jealous of anyone, it is Wood Mountain, because the baby smiles at him.
When Patrice gets home, Wood Mountain is feeding Gwiiwizens. She chops wood while he rocks the baby to sleep with a lullaby.
