Point of View

The majority of this novel is told from the third person point of view with a focus on two different characters. Merilee and Sugar are the two characters of focus. It is important for the author to focus on these characters because their points of view are significant as the two get to know one another and become friends. The sections that focus on Sugar share her observations of the younger generations. She sees life through the wisdom of a long life and lots of experience about human nature. The sections that focus on Merilee describe her struggle as she tries to understand Sugar’s point of view on the world.
