Summary

In Chapter 18, Isabelle and Letty are doing laundry while Maya plays nearby. Letty is pleased with the current situation, saying Ava has been incredibly kind. Isabelle is happy Ava has the ability to leave the motel for a few hours when she wants, leaving Letty in charge, and says Ava “adores” Maya. Letty talks a little about her mom, saying they are not in contact. During that conversation, she mentions Tanya by name. Based on the resemblance between Tanya, Maya, and Letty, Isabelle realizes Letty's sister was the woman arrested at the Murmuring Surf. Letty says neither Ava nor Joe know and Isabelle promises to keep the secret.
