Summary

In Chapter 1, Letty arrives in the parking lot of the Murmuring Surf, an older motel just across the road from the beach in Treasure Island, Florida. She parks in a no parking zone and hopes to get a room when the motel opens. She looks at an article that her sister Tanya had saved. Letty feels the horror and chaos of the last 36 hours.
