Summary
In Chapter 7, Millie wakes up feeling ill and goes to work. She asks Karen if there is any extra work she can help with, but she is rebuffed. She returns to her desk and checks her email, finding only a newsletter from the women's shelter where she once volunteered. She asks another co-worker if she needs any help with anything, and the woman declines. She surfs the internet. Karen arrives at Millie's desk and gives her a new job – shredding a small stack of papers. She tells Millie there is no pressure to finish shredding by the end of the day. As Millie shreds, she notices that one of the documents is a personal email. She slips the email into her notebook. She does not finish the shredding and goes home for the day.
