Chapter 15

Louise, Genevieve, and Fletcher Christian arrive on Mars. On the voyage, Fletcher learns that with concentration he can minimize the disruptive effects he has on nearby electronics. To avoid complications involving the quarantine, the captain of the Far Realm devises a way to finagle passports for each of them.

In Exnall, Moyo and Stephanie Ash have become lovers. They take it upon themselves to try to feed the starving and destitute non-possessed children of Exnall. Stephanie wants Moyo to help her lead the children to safety on the border of Montbridge.

Wing-Tsit convinces Syrinx that she should conquer her fear of the unknown by journeying to the Kiint home world to ask them about their past experience with the possessed.
