Chapter 7

Capone and Jezzibella have become lovers, and Capone's Organization has effectively seized control of New California. Many of the possessed want to use their red cloud to hide the planet, removing it to another universe, but Capone is against it. He uses his control of the satellite defense network to bombard locations where the red clouds appear. He makes an impassioned speech to his lieutenants, telling them that if the possessed attempt to hide, the Edenists will come after them. They must not turn and run, but most fight here and now.

Edenist forces contact Rubra and tell him about Laton and the possessed virus. They offer Rubra help in stopping the spread of the virus on Valisk, but Rubra chooses to go it alone. News does slip to the general population on Valisk that Laton's ship, the Yaku, made...
