Summary

In Chapter 24, Serena appears in her office. She admits her mother evolved from Grimthorpe’s secretary to the true author of his books. Serena wanted her mother to ask for compensation, but she accepted a secretary’s salary. Serena says she dropped out of her MBA program to take over as Grimthorpe’s secretary when her mother died. When confronted, Grimthorpe agreed to pay $5 million and sign over all royalties. Rather than keep Serena’s mother’s authorship a secret, he wanted to deliver the news himself at the press conference.
