Summary
In “Requeening,” Alice got in a petty argument with Nancy at the office before entering a meeting where her boss Bill announced he was retiring and Nancy was taking his position. The job had always been promised to Alice, and at that moment she realized that Nancy had never been her friend. She quit her job after learning that Bill was retiring from the county to work “as an outside consultant” for SupraGro (249). She marched over to the Watershed Alliance to meet with Stan, who told her “we can use your help” (252).
In “Swarm Warning,” “Harry Stokes was a man transformed” by his kite-surfing experience (254). He wouldn’t stop talking about it.
