Alizée Benoit (Josephine Villeneuves)
Alizée Benoit is one of two protagonists in The Muralist; her storyline occurs in the historical context of America in the years before World War Two, and briefly in post-war France. Alizée was born in Massachusetts to parents of French and Jewish descent. After her parents were killed in an explosion that destroyed their university laboratory, Alizée and her brother Henri moved to France, where they were raised by their aunt and uncle. Alizée has an intense passion for art and possesses a revolutionary form of creativity - her concept of abstraction provides crucial inspiration to her artist friends who go on to establish America's first unique art form, Abstract Expressionism.
