Summary
In Chapter 54, Danielle meets with Jordan at the Louvre. She is “back in a funk” after having met Mr. Villeneuves and seen Josephine’s paintings. Jordan and Danielle had both given up studio painting, in his case, to care for his twins. Danielle changes the subject when he asks whether she questions her decision to stop painting. Danielle had been a talented artist, with pieces in gallery shows and modest sales; however, she “was stopped by the fear of putting [herself] out there again, living for a break that never came, hope as the enemy” (321). Jordan has found no squares, but he may have access to more Abstract Expressionist paintings in the future, if he gains the promotion he is working toward. She “half-heartedly” explores the Louvre, returns to her hotel, and and books her flight home (322).
