The ship remains at battle-ready status during a funeral service for the middies. Kevin heads to Rob's cabin to interrupt his doldrums. They talk about the lost Midshipmen and Kevin clarifies that their deaths are not his fault. Rod then blames himself for not checking the self-detonating torpedoes for Moties and rats. Kevin insists the Captain stop brooding and do something useful. He reminds the Captain of the orders given for the entire mission and that his opinion must be solicited for decisions until the Lenin returns to New Scotland.
