Summary
The book opens in the year 2012 in San Francisco. Mokhtar Alkhanshali was a 24-year-old, first-generation American man of Yemeni descent. He was also Muslim and was still struggling to find a suitable career path. Mokhtar decided to enroll at City College of San Francisco to finally obtain his undergraduate degree. His brother gave him a loan for a laptop. After attending an Islamic Relief fundraiser. However, on the way to deliver the raised money to the specified mosque, Mokhtar lost his suitcase, which contained both the money and his laptop.
