Summary
Melinda writes that inequality must be addressed in all walks of life, not just poverty. During her last year at Duke University, she was told by an executive at IBM to accept a job at MIcrosoft, because she felt Melinda could advance there. The company was small, but had a lot of room for growth. And when Melinda interviewed there, she loved the atmosphere and the passion.
She then shifts to a quick story about her parents. Both grew up in New Orleans, but her dad only went to college after he was encouraged to do so by a Catholic Priest which convinced his parents to send him.
