Summary
To start Chapter Four, Melinda talks about a girl named Sona from Kanpur who told members of the foundation that she wanted a teacher. Sona’s courage pushed the foundation to help the villagers register as citizens so they could attend government funded schools. Melinda says that sending girls to school has positive effects on all future generations, It allows them to challenge expectations and realize they deserve a chance in life.
