Summary
Melinda shares a story from one of her heroes, Hans Rosling, who passed away in 2017. When Hans was a young doctor, he and his wife moved to Mozambique to practice in a poor neighborhood of 300,000. Hans believed that those in poverty can only be helped when one understands the world through their eyes. In 1980, Hans travelled to a small village during a cholera epidemic in 1980. Everyone there knew his name because one of their women died during childbirth at his hospital. The people were so moved that he sent the body back to the village as most are left in unmarked graves. Hans admitted that it was a nun named Mama Rosa who ensured that the body was returned.
