Max Crumbly

Max Crumbly is the main character of the book. He narrates and illustrates the story. He does not describe himself, but he draws himself with bushy, light hair. He is shorter and skinnier than the bully in school.

Max has asthma attacks brought on by stress. His parents thought a good way to help the asthma was to have him be home schooled by his grandmother. His grandmother was a kindergarten teacher, so he was treated like he was in kindergarten. Therefore, he wanted more than anything to be accepted and to be in a normal school with other normal kids.

Max is imaginative and tends to go off on tangents. He enjoys comic books and rap. He is extremely klutzy and has the worst luck imaginable. Max over dramatizes his predicaments. But, even when just faced with the facts, a lot of embarrassing things happen to...
