Summary

In Chapter 26, Max looked around to investigate the girl’s voice that he heard. All he could find at first was a dead cockroach, which freaked him out. He learned that he accidentally dialed someone on the cell phone he had found in the lost and found.

A few awkward conversations took place, as the girl kept calling him back, and he kept hanging up. He did not want the burglars to hear him. They were right outside the boys’ locker room, next to the girls’ locker room. Every time this girl called back, the phone’s ring tone would go off and give him away.

Eventually, the girl recognized Max’s voice. It was Erin. She had lost her phone earlier, and now he had accidentally called her house.
