Part Three, Chapters 12-15 Summary
In Chapter Twelve, Chris Davenport and a mysterious gray-haired man rob the Gingerbread House. The wedding mirror is taken, ending up at an auction in Texas. Rachael is in a hotel in Denver and has begun a new novel about a pregnant teenager who runs away as her parents verge on divorce. Brandy has moved into Lottie's room, but must hide in the barn when Lottie unexpectedly comes home.
In Chapter Thirteen, Lottie discovers Shay in the barn, and recognizes her as the missing girl from the radio announcements. The wedding mirror is being sold in the middle of the night before an auction. Lottie makes Shay uncomfortable with her posters of naked men and her frank attitude about sex. The only items from the Gingerbread House that didn't sell in the night auction are the mirror...
