Summary
When Chapter 12 begins, Curtis is waiting near the bingo room of the Quicksilver for a shuttlebus back to the Strip. He thinks over everything Kagami told him about Stanley and tries to make sense of it. While he is on his way back to the Strip, Curtis’s thoughts wander from Stanley’s motives to a memory of a football game during his junior year. He makes his way back to his hotel room and “thinks for probably the twelfth time today that he really ought to call his wife” (62). Just as he is thinking of calling Danielle, his phone rings, and his home number in Philadelphia is on the display. Rather than answering the call, he lets it go to voicemail once again.
Curtis decides to go downstairs to the shopping level of the hotel for a sandwich. As he is walking...
