Summary

In the opening of Chapter 9, Curtis returns to his hotel room and thinks about his recent conversation with Veronica. He lies down intending to rest for just a little while, but he ends up sleeping past noon. After he wakes up and takes a shower, he realizes that he has three missed calls on his cell phone, from Danielle, Albedo, and his father. Danielle called to check on him, Albedo mentioned that he might have some leads, and his father advised Curtis to meet up with a man named Walter Kagami. Curtis takes his dad’s recommendation and writes down Kagami’s name on a piece of paper. At the end of the chapter, Curtis discovers another crude, cryptic fax from Damon with a message about Albedo: “Let him help. Progress???????” (40).
