Summary

Graciela catches Lock trying to uproot her neighbor’s tree in the middle of the night after her nightmare. She realizes he has been taking the trees that have disappeared lately around town. He brings her to his family’s apartment where he has replanted the unwanted trees, bushes, and flowers.

Brigid mocks Graciela at school and Graciela wonders whether she knows what really happened on the night of the party. She finds a Polaroid photo in her locker from that night and feels sick when she realizes she looks like she was drunk and having fun. She is fearful that Brigid will share the photo and disrupt Graciela’s home life.
