Summary

Chapter 4 is the tale that is told to Abilene by her grandmother. The story is about a young princess who loves only herself and runs off when a prince asks her to marry him. The princess meets a witch who turns her into a warthog because the princess admits that she does not care for anyone else. As a warthog, the princess is hunted, killed, and eventually served as dinner at the palace. After Pellegrina is finished, she tucks Abilene into bed and as the night goes by Edward thinks of the princess in Pellegrina's story. He also thinks of Pellegrina's last words to him about how he disappointed her.

The voyage to London begins in Chapter 5. Abilene carries Edward all over the ship with her and receives attention from other passengers for being so unique. The other children want to play with...
