Summary
In Chapter 14, Harun recounts how Meriem described in more detail how she was planning to write a thesis on Meursault’s book but had wanted more information about the murdered Arab and his family. Meriem showed Harun the book, which bore the title The Other.
Harun describes the shock that he and his mother felt when they realized there was an entire book that told the story of the death of Musa, including giving an identification of the man who had killed him, something they had never known. Just like the world did not know the name of the man killed but Harun and his mother did, the world as a whole knew the identity of Musa’s murderer, information that Harun and his mother never had before. The day after Meriem’s visit, Harun’s mother told him not to open the door...
