Summary

In “Ben,” at group, Ben was disappointed to find “no response from Amie” (278). During their meeting, the group discussed a recent hashtag inspired by a young woman’s viral speech. The woman argued that the strings should cultivate togetherness rather than division.

In “Maura,” on the day Maura and Nina were supposed to visit “the florist, the caterer, the bakery, [and] the dress shop,” Maura told Nina she wanted to attend a demonstration for the Strung Together movement instead (282). Although Nina was upset, when Maura returned home that night, she found a note from Nina suggesting they skip the wedding and marry at City Hall instead. The ceremony was humble, but beautiful.
