Summary
Chapter 4 is titled “Magic Words.” Rose takes a little time settling in with the group. She is often vocal during Miig's story time, expressing her anger over their current situation, and she wants to take meaningful action. Miig has them work on their hunting skills, though there are no large animals for them to hunt in their current location. He predicts that the animals will return, and says they need to be prepared. The group always divides in half with some hunting with Miig while others work at the camp. They are called Hunters and Homesteaders. When they return, French tells Rose he feels sorry for the Homesteaders who were stuck taking care of Minerva.
