Summary

In Chapter 1, Will wakes his wife, Iris, with the words “You are my very favorite person on the planet" (10). Those are the words that Iris and Will have chosen to say to each other instead of the typical I love you. It was the day after their seventh anniversary, and they had decided they wanted to have a baby. Even though Will had to catch a plane for a three-day conference in Orlando, he made love to Iris again. He took the chance he would be late. The year before they had bought their dream home, a three-bedroom Victorian. Now, Will presents Iris with a trinity ring from Cartier that she knows that they cannot afford, But, she keeps the ring because Will put so much thought into how it symbolizes their love.
