Chapters Ninteen and Twenty Summary
The next morning, David discovers that Chang has already gone to have the mark before his scheduled 9 a.m. appointment with David. He runs around for a while, trying to locate Chang, his father or the chief security deputy, Walter Moon. He doesn't manage to locate any of them. He listens in on Carpathia's office and hears Carpathia telling Moon that he's disappointed in his abilities. He tells Moon that he wants his troops armed. Moon asks if Carpathia's objective is to make the citizens afraid. Carpathia says the loyal have no need to be afraid. Carpathia says that he wants one hundred thousand fully armed troops in Israel when Carpathia arrives there.
