Summary

Chapter 31

Percy manages to think quickly, realizing that Chrysaor’s army is afraid of the god, Dionysus. He convinced them that Dionysus is on board the ship and angry with them. He has Frank turn into a dolphin, pretending that Dionysus is the one that has cursed them. The monsters are terrified and quickly run away, leaving Chrysaor alone. Frank turns into a giant bear and manages to chase Chrysaor away. Percy is afraid that he will return, but the group can’t take the time to try and search for him and continue to go to Rome. They do search the ship that he had come on, discovering millions of dollars’ worth of gold and gems. Percy says to leave it as tribute for Bacchus, recalling his earlier words about how he wouldn’t help them without tribute.
