Summary

Chapter 25

Leo tells everyone what they learned from the centaurs. Annabeth also opens up about her earlier encounter with Athena. She tries to show them the map, but it is blank. She concludes it only works when she is alone. She then goes on to say that she suspects the statue in Rome is supposed to be the Athena Parthenos, a famous Greek statue. Annabeth believes she has to go alone in order to find the Mark of Athena. Annabeth is nervous because she believes the statue is guarded by spiders, but she also knows that if she can get the statue, it could heal the rift between the two camps and give them the united force necessary to stop Gaea.
