Summary
Rawiya watches the Roc as Mennad tells them that al-Idrisi’s book will allow him to defeat the Fatimids. Another man is eaten as the other armies begin to run. Al-Idrisi says they have to catch up to Roger’s army or they will never make it back to Sicily. Mennad is grabbed by a snake and Rawiya says she will help him if he gives her the book. He initially refuses until the snake nearly eats him. They save Mennad and are forced to run from the Roc. They reach King Roger’s army and al-Idrisi shows them the book with King Roger’s seal. The expedition boards the ship, but the Roc follows them into open waters.
