Summary
Rawiya’s expedition heads to Damascus with Khaldun riding with her. They enter the valley of Violets to see the city surrounded by a wall with seven gates. They see the Roc perched on a tall building and the city itself deserted. Rawiya says that Khalden will lull the Roc to sleep with his song and climb on its’ back. Then, Bakr and al-Idrisi will wake the Roc up and, while Khalden stabs it, Rawiya will fire a rock into the Roc’s eye. They all follow her plan and Rawiya successfully knocks one of the Roc’s eyes out before he attacks her. When she picks it up, it turns into a purple crystal matching the description of Abu Sayeed's special Roc from Nour’s story. The Roc swears revenge before flying away to the land...
