Summary

As Chapter 30 begins, Donna is having whiskey with her mother and Chris in Chris's apartment. Patrice, Donna's mother, is staying with Chris. They were supposed to have gone to a jazz club that evening, but the outing was cancelled due to Ryan's arrest. They tell Patrice about the Thursday Murder Club. Patrice questions the tactics used to arrest Ryan. The tactics do not bother Donna and Chris. Chris and Patrice annoy Donna by flirting.

As Chapter 31 opens, Sue and Lance are interviewing Elizabeth and Joyce. They question the whereabouts of Elizabeth's phone and why Douglas had wanted to see her. The group agrees that everyone there, with the exception of Joyce, is a viable suspect.
