Summary

Chapter 11 is a journal entry. The writer talks about the fact that the past is catching up to him and that one part of him will always be 12, the day “everything changed.” His mother said she was leaving. Sebastian was initially thrilled but then realized she was leaving him behind, with his brutal father. She pledged to send for him once she found a place. She asked him not to tell until she was gone. Sebastian considered telling his father so he would not lose his mother. He realized for the first time that she stood up for Rex but never for him.
