Summary

Part Two opens with two quotes. One is by Arthur Miller about “the preconception that suffering is a mistake, or a sign of weakness, or a sign even of illness.” The other is by C.P. Cavafy about Cyclops and Poseidon. Chapter 1 of this section is another journal entry. Sebastian describes going for a walk one night and encountering a fox. The animal was surprised and ran away after a moment. Sebastian writes that he hates being “two people” and would prefer to be “whole.” He feels the memory of the moment he split is just out of reach.
