Summary
In Chapter 8, Mariana believes Henry is standing outside her home the next morning as she leaves for Cambridge. She has not heard from Zoe since the previous night and hopes Zoe's fears about Tara are unfounded. Mariana thinks about Zoe's words and tone the previous night and cannot identify what bothers her. She remembers feeling proud when Zoe was accepted to Cambridge, and she and Sebastian helped her settle into campus life. Mariana and Sebastian met at Cambridge, and the idea of returning without him is daunting. Mariana's mother died when she was an infant.
