Three Pines
Three Pines is a small, fictional village near Montreal in Canada. It is where Armand and Jean-Guy live and where most of the action in the novel takes place. The Auberge, Gilbert’s cabin, the bistro, and the church are all located in Three Pines.
Old Gymnasium
Abigail requests that Colette reserve this old gymnasium so she can present a lecture the week between Christmas and New Year’s. Édouard convinced his son, Simon, to sneak into the gymnasium while the caretaker was giving Édouard a tour. Simon hid firecrackers and a gun in the bathroom for his father to use during Abigail’s lecture. Édouard shot at Abigail during her lecture, intending to kill her. He believed if she was dead, her ideas of mass murder would die as well.
