The Lying Game/Effects of Lying
The Lying Game was an invention that was originally intended to allow Thea and Kate to get some revenge against the popular, snobbish girls of Salten House and, occasionally, against the faculty members. However, it became a way of life that consumed and isolated the girls. The lies hurt the intended victims as well as the liars. Once someone is known as a liar, no one wants to associate with the person for fear that they, too, will be caught up in a lie. Even when the liar tells the truth, no one will believe them. The lies told by Thea, Kate, Isa, and Fatima prove that lying can have far reaching consequences for a long time.
