A Higher Power, Chapters 23-25 Summary

In Chapter 23, Steve gains self-consciousness and a sense of time. With a sense of time, come memories of his past. While Gabe and Val are making love, Gabe has a revelation about the rat brains. He realizes that the sea beast can attract mammals with low serotonin levels. They talk about Val's dilemma and wonder whether they should warn someone so the Pine Cove residents do not get eaten. Val suggests they go to couples counseling. They first get dressed and find Theo at Molly's house. Gabe excitedly tells Theo their theory about the creature. Theo responds that Molly has been there and he already knows about the creature. Gabe explains the connection between the increased libido in the town and the monster. Val adds that it may be why Theo could quit his addiction...
