Admitting You Have a Problem, Chapters 4-6 Summary
In Chapter Four, an artist named Estelle Boyet is the first to feel the effects of the placebo substituted for her antidepressant. Her paintings of the ocean become dark. Estelle goes to the Head of the Slug saloon instead of the group session for widows that Val suggests. At the saloon, she finds many people who are also unknowingly suffering withdrawal from their medication. Theo is stationing himself at the bar, since that is where he is usually needed. Estelle talks with Theo, who comments on the strange goings on in Pine Cove and how busy he has been lately. Estelle surprises herself by staying to listen to the music until closing.
