Pine Cove is a small coastal tourist town that gets turned upside down when Bess Leander appears to commit suicide; the town psychiatrist decides to take all her patients off anti-depressants, and an ancient sea beast comes ashore looking for food and love. A wide cast of characters come together to solve the mysteries that develop, while the town constable kicks a twenty-year drug habit and finds out he is a capable law enforcement officer.
