Admitting You Have a Problem, Prologue and Chapters 1-3 Summary

Pine Cove is a small coastal tourist town that gets turned upside down when Bess Leander appears to commit suicide; the town psychiatrist decides to take all her patients off anti-depressants, and an ancient sea beast comes ashore looking for food and love. A wide cast of characters come together to solve the mysteries that develop, while the town constable kicks a twenty-year drug habit and finds out he is a capable law enforcement officer.

In Chapter One, Theo, Pine Cove's constable for the last eight years, goes on the call to investigate Bess Leander's suicide. The Emergency Medical Technicians argue about the woman and her death.
