Summary
Chapter 24 begins as Leo calls his brother, Olly, to discuss his situation with Emma. He mentions Emma is in Northumberland. Olly remarks that Jeremy Rothschild has a house there.
That night, Leo reads Emma’s messages. In the messages, Jill tells Emma to continue to lie to Leo. Leo finds a message from an unknown contact named “Sally.” It contains a reply message written, but unsent, and addressed to Jeremy, stating “you are the father of my child” (158).
Emma returns home. Leo leaves to deal with this new information alone.
In a flashback, Leo remembers how Emma told him she was pregnant with Ruby at a pub, declaring her love for him. He thinks: “She does love me. I haven’t just made it up” (161).
