Summary
In Chapter 1, Lily Michaels-Ryan, a high school student with ADHD, struggles with the simple task of walking from classroom to classroom. After eventually making it to geography, her teacher Coach Neuwirth hands out an article for the class to read. Lily feels her focus drifting, so she gets up and heads for the door. But as she leaves she notices a squeaking noise coming from the vinyl wall between the classrooms. It was coming from the metal handle on the wall, so Lily grabs it and pushes down, but she pushes too hard and a loud pop sound follows. The class laughs, and her teacher sends her to the office.
