Rukhsana's House
Rukhsana's house is in suburban Seattle. She lives with her mother, father, and brother. She and her brother have bedrooms that are upstairs and across the hall from one another. Her mother is always boiling chai and cooking delicious Bangladeshi food in the house. Rukhsana loves eating her mother's cooking, but is self-conscious about how the strong smells might impact her reputation with her white friends, so she constantly showers after eating and cooking in an effort to keep her two worlds separate from one another. Despite everything that her parents do to her in Bangladesh, Rukhsana feels like her house will always be her home, so she goes back there instead of staying with friends when she returns to Seattle.
