Summary
Preston found it difficult to sleep during his first night in the jungle, and when he got up to go to the bathroom, he saw the rainforest carpeted with cockroaches and black spiders. Sand flies continued to fly into his hammock, and he was woken up by the roar of howler monkeys. Alicia Gonzalez. the anthropologist on the expedition, and Anna Cohen, a graduate student in archeology at the University of Washington who was Chris Fisher's associate, arrived. The helicopter also brought Oscar Neil, chief of archeology for the Instituto Hondureno de Antropologia e Historia (IHAH) and an expert on ancient Mosquitia. The crew moved in supplies and arranged their campsite.
