Summary

In Chapter 7, Gamache paid a visit to Peter’s mother and step-father Irene and Bert Finney. Gamache indicated it was Bert, whom he considered the ugliest man alive, who opened the door. Irene was pretty and plump with a kind expression on her face but Gamache steeled himself to keep from getting drawn into her lair.
