Summary
Chapter 28 is written from Matthew Venn’s third-person perspective. Matthew talks to Justin Cramer, the solicitor who was scheduled to meet with Simon. Cramer says that he is not sure what Simon wanted. He thought Simon was strange. He explains that at first, Simon contacted the firm about his will. He planned to donate money to the Woodyard. Cramer suggested he contact a local solicitor because there was not a lot of money involved. He did not hear from Simon for awhile and then Simon contacted him again about an urgent matter. Matthew is about to terminate the interview when Cramer places an envelope on the table. It arrived at his office the day after Simon’s death and contains a check for two hundred thousand pounds made payable to the solicitor’s name asking him to keep it safe. The check was...
